Mayrand Food Service Group employs over 700 professionals in food retail and wholesale, restaurant distribution and fresh produce processing.
Mayrand Group, which has always operated in Quebec, is the leading independent private distributor and network of stores in our local food industry. The group has specialized in serving food service professionals for over 40 years and continues to develop its selection of locally produced goods and full-service solutions.
In 2020, a new group, united and involved in the future of Quebec's food industry, was formed.
In the midst of the first wave of the COVID crisis, we decided to innovate faster, make use of synergies, and join forces.
A single management team common to all the group's activities was created.
The strength of the Mayrand brand was utilized to its full potential. The final result was a business proposition of two complementary services: physical food distribution and a network of stores open 7 days a week, both created to make our clients' lives easier.
In April of 2020, we chose to adopt the Mayrand Plus identity following a study conducted with our customers and internal teams. This common brand, anchored in Quebec's culinary heritage, was adopted by Alimplus and its AOF division in Drummondville, which were acquired in February 2019.
For over 40 years, specialized food service distribution activities have only grown through the acquisition and consolidation of regional distributors.
Mayrand Plus is taking big steps to modernizing itself, with new working practices, certified warehouses, and upgraded vehicles that bear the Mayrand Plus identity on Quebec roads, right up to our clients’ doors.
In 2018, the Mayrand store, which had moved two years earlier from the Metropolitan Boulevard to Anjou on the A25 North, adopted the Mayrand Food Depot brand identity.
The Mayrand company was created by a Quebec family in Montreal in 1914. In 2019, the Mayrand banner came to represent the unique concept of a store specializing in food and small equipment for food professionals, open to the public, no membership card required.
The company equipped itself with modern e-commerce technology and successfully grew from 1 store to 4. 2020 and 2021 were marked by the opening of a location on the South Shore in Brossard at Mail Champlain on July 15, 2020, on the North Shore in Laval on the A440 West on October 21, 2020, and another in Saint-Jérôme on April 7, 2021. This is just the beginning of Mayrand’s geographic expansion within Quebec.
Private equity fund Walter Capital initially invested in both Mayrand and Alimplus in 2014, alongside Mr. Daniel Le Rossignol.
Recognizing the growth opportunities in the food sector, Walter Capital increased its investment in 2017. This was the starting point of Mayrand Food Service Group's strategy, which would be built solidly over the next 3 years.
This direct support from a committed, long-term shareholder base gave Mayrand Group access to the resources it needed to accelerate its growth, modernize its management tools and increase its reach within Quebec, all while counting on the support of shareholders who are committed to the business over the long term.
Mayrand Food Depot is composed of 4 stores in Anjou, Brossard, Laval, and Saint-Jérôme, open to everyone, no membership card required. Each store offers an on-site pick-up service for online purchases, which is contactless if clients wish.
Mayrand Food Depot also includes the e-commerce website mayrand.ca, available to all and featuring the same prices as in-store, with delivery to the Greater Montreal area.
Mayrand Plus Food Service Distributor is a distribution and transportation network specialized in delivery throughout Quebec's ample territory.
