Reporting directly to the Vice-President, Merchandising and Negotiation, the incumbent will be responsible for heading all negotiation activities, such as commercial agreements, supplier programs and cost structures. Always on the lookout for the latest market trends, the ideal candidate leads business reviews with suppliers and devises and implements strategic plans by category to drive sales and profitability, while adhering to the organization’s mission and strategic positioning

Your tasks will consist mainly of

  • Negotiate commercial agreements with all of the group’s active suppliers
  • Conduct monthly follow-ups with the Merchandising team to optimize our supplier agreements
  • Hold business reviews with suppliers and invite relevant merchandising stakeholders
  • Negotiate costs (listings and notice of cost change)
  • Run category analyses to optimize negotiations
  • Identify new potential products for the two business sectors based on their needs and respective markets
  • Identify business opportunities and make recommendations to merchandising and distribution managers
  • Monitor the sales volume and revenue dashboard (KPI) to ensure revenue, sales, margins, and the achievement of objectives
  • Attend conventions and trade shows to seize new business opportunities and maintain a pulse on the market (establish new procurement sources, new suppliers, new products)
  • Conduct regular walk-throughs to ensure competitiveness
  • All other related tasks

Qualifications and skills required

  • Bachelor's degree in administration or any other relevant field
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in merchandising and/or negotiation
  • Knowledge of food products and of the food industry (food service & retail)
  • Knowledge of the MS Office suite (Word, Excel (advanced), Outlook)
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
