As Assistant Manager of the Deli Department, you’ll be responsible for managing purchases, restocking, the department’s operations, your team and customer service as well as optimizing sales.

Your other tasks will be to
- Work closely with the department manager to restock and produce these fresh foods in a manner that optimizes their quality
- Prioritize and supervise teamwork on a daily basis
- Manage product loss prevention while maintaining the right level of inventory
- Perform or supervise the cutting of deli meats, cheeses and other products
- Place products daily so they’re available to customers
- Rotate stocks (product quality and expiration dates)
- See to the department’s general cleanliness (maintenance of equipment, displays and work area)
- Establish health, hygiene and safety standards
- Make sure the equipment, displays and work area are properly maintained
- Receive goods while respecting the cold chain

Necessary qualifications and skills
- Have 1 or 2 years’ experience managing a fresh food department or in the retail business
- Hold a Secondary 5 diploma or the equivalent
- Have management experience (important asset)
- Wholesale experience (asset)
- Be well organized
- Good knowledge and fluency in French in oral and written
- Ability to communicate
- Have a sense of merchandising
- Team spirit
